World Heritage & European Heritage Awards

Restoration of the facade of the Colegio Mayor de San Ildefonso of the University of Alcalá de Henares. Begun at the initiative of Cardinal Cisneros in 1537, it is one of the best known works of Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón and is built in Vellón limestone, in the «Cisneros style», also known as Plateresque or transitional, with a mixture of styles from Gothic to Renaissance. The intervention includes cleaning, consolidation, extraction of salts, replacement of volumes with stone and mortar, restoration of locks and carpentry and protection of cornices with zinc. The excellent work of our professionals in this intervention, has been key for this restoration work to obtain the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage , awarded by Europa Nostra in the Conservation Category in 2018, as well as the Special Prize of the Historic Houses Foundation in 2017.
